Recently, a short video titled "3,000 tons of tea in Shexian flood disaster tea company was brewed, lost 90 million yuan, and the person in charge cried bitterly" has attracted widespread attention from netizens. In order to help tea farmers survive the epidemic, the person in charge collected more tea than in previous years. To be more, I didn’t expect the rainstorm to flood the tea company’s warehouse, causing heavy losses. At present, even the tea farmers’ wages cannot be paid.

In fact, disasters have never been far away from us. In the face of heavy rain, how should tea companies take preventive measures to preserve tea leaves?

Water is a necessary medium for various biochemical components in tea to react, and it is also the main factor for mildew in tea and a necessary condition for microbial reproduction. Generally speaking, the higher the water content of tea, the faster the aging. When the moisture content exceeds 6.5%, dirty air will be produced after 6 months. When the water content exceeds 7%, the taste gradually deteriorates. Mold is easily produced in a short period of time when the moisture content reaches 8.8%. When the water content exceeds 12%, mold grows and produces a musty smell. Therefore, for tea with good price and high quality, the moisture content should be between 4% and 5%, followed by 6% and no more than 7%.

Tea companies have a large storage capacity of tea leaves, so it is advisable to use low temperature, low humidity, and closed cold storage for storage, which has a good fresh-keeping effect and is economical. It is generally required that the warehouse temperature should not exceed 5 °C and the humidity should be controlled below 60%. Build a 180 cubic meter cold storage, which can store 15,000 kilograms of tea. After 8 months of storage, the quality of the tea remained basically unchanged. The content of chlorophyll and vitamin C was 2 times and 4 times that of conventional storage, respectively.

In the absence of refrigeration, a large number of famous teas, such as West Lake Longjing, Huangshan Maofeng, etc., are not used temporarily after acquisition. In order to prevent qualitative change and temporary storage, lime block preservation method or industrial ceiling fan dehumidification method is generally used. The lime block preservation method uses the hygroscopicity of the lime block to keep the tea leaves fully dry. The dehumidification method of industrial ceiling fans is to use the dehumidification characteristics of industrial ceiling fans to maintain the ventilation environment in the warehouse, accelerate the evaporation of moisture in the air, and keep the tea leaves dry.

Although natural disasters cannot be predicted, as an enterprise, tea companies should continue to improve their ability to resist risks, such as purchasing insurance, developing a complex business model, etc., and enterprises that are better prepared can survive disasters.
